Feeling overwhelmed by the declining state of the world, we were inspired to find a way out of our despair. We asked ourselves, what message do we need to hear right now? From that search came the chorus, “Though we’re standing at the edge, this is not the end.” Even though “Not the End” was written long before the coronavirus pandemic, its meaning is even more amplified now. We need to remember not to give up hope. This song is a reminder of that. This is the first of our 2020 monthly singles.
lyrics
Though we’re standing at the edge,
This is not the end.
We’re moving closer to oblivion each day.
The wasteland hasn’t stopped wasting away.
Nothing, I suppose,
Is what comes next.
A void or ashes.
So much riding on this bet.
Though we’re standing at the edge,
This is not the end.
Though we’re standing at the edge,
This is not the end.
Plastic bottles, empty pill vials,
Broken chairs littered everywhere.
Shattered TVs, rotting pieces
Of what looks like our bed.
Could this scene be all that we leave?
Place your bet.
Though we’re standing at the edge,
This is not the end.
Though we’re standing at the edge,
This is not the end.
No, this is not the end.

1st time i heard DeathWish, i turned it off.
felt rushed, not the Isbell i've come to admire. really grab'd me when i took time to listen on the 2nd try. the writing on these songs stopped me in my tracks more than once. raw talent with just enough polish in the delivery.
